Boy Ant was asked to design a flyer for a small computer repair start-up here in Atlanta. It was fun to come up with this one. Like M&Ms that fix your broken PC. Handy! If you want to get your computer fixed these days by Bits and PCs, you’d have to send your compie to Korea. Boy Ant was asked to design a flyer for a small computer repair start-up here in Atlanta. Cafe Jonah and the Magical Attic is one of the most endearing cafes in Atlanta, GA. The owner, Jenny Levison of Souper Jenny fame, created a staff and then customer goal of giving 29 gifts in 29 days based on the Cami Walker book 29 Gifts. Cami Walker also has a great website promoting this worldwide challenge. Joanna made these cards in correspondence with the kick-off. A simple reminder that “you are a gift to me.”  Cafe Jonah and the Magical Attic is one of the most endearing cafes in Atlanta, GA. All little girls imagine frogs turning into princes, riding ponies, and tea parties with her frilly-dressed friends. This little girl was no exception. Pink, French toile, and princesses go together like tea and scones. The party involved fully decked princes and princesses, live music, a castle cake personally made by Erin Exner Walker, and a horse-drawn carriage. Every three-year-olds dream!  All little girls imagine frogs turning into princes, riding ponies, and tea parties with her frilly-dressed friends. This little girl was no exception. Mike McGrath and I submitted both designs to the Architecture for Humanity Atlanta’s Oasis competition to design, construct, and donate a bus stop to the city this past year. Both entries follow similar ideas through different means.
LightSpace uses prefabricated steel bends encased in an inner and outer skin used for protection from the elements as well as signage. The skins are made of polycarbonate panels: translucent on the outer skin and colors matching Marta’s insignia on the inner. It also incorporates panels for promoting local art or community activities in lieu of typical advertising.
The budget for the competition was very minimal so Move.Stop. incorporated the general form of LightSpace using only recycled materials and local foliage. The entry also made use of a large porch swing style of seating. Too large and heavy to swing high or fast, thereby making it safer, the seat is an active call back to a staple of the historical southern house: the front porch and swing facing the activity of the street.

These were the invitations we sent our for our Christmas Party. The Santa cookie was good and all, but the cookies that folks brought to the party were much better. During the Summer of the 2010 we were all watching in horror at the BP Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico. What better way to drown your sorrows than with the Solstice Oil Spill? We designed the labels as a callback to the terrible photos of oily pelicans and to the “tar baby” type relationship we all have with the oil industry.
